While looking for her dog's stuffed toy, Kirsten Lynch from Hobart, Australia, looked under the couch. It was indeed there, and the woman reached out to grab it. To her amazement, the "toy" suddenly woke up and tried to escape.
Kirsten's golden retriever named Gecko liked to play with an old plush Tasmanian devil. It was this toy that the woman found under the couch.
But after a few seconds, the Aussie realized her mistake. She found a real Tasmanian devil under the couch, looking exactly like the stuffed animal.
The little animal must have got in through the dog door. And then it found a safe place to hide.
Kirsten contacted the local national park. The animal was eventually taken away and released into the wild:
Tasmanian devils are rather curious creatures. In Australia, it's not uncommon for them to sneak up on people's houses in search of food.
