London-based street photographer Alan Schaller specializes in black-and-white photography reflecting "the realities and diversity of the world around us". His latest project is dedicated to dogs. The street photographer travels around the world taking photographs of dogs.
"I find dogs are in general more consistently friendly, unpredictable, and amusing than humans," the photographer says.

From tiny puppies to adult dogs, the collection of dog portraits from different countries grows with each trip. The photo shoot starts with the photographer trying to bond with the dog, getting to know it and making it relax in front of the camera. If the dog has an owner, Alan always asks permission to take the picture of the pet.
"Almost every dog I have photographed, unless the scenario has been tragic, has made me laugh at some point when meeting it," Schaller admits.
Los Angeles, USA
Schaller tries not to disturb stray dogs, which are often vulnerable, sick or injured. However, when he was in India, most of the dogs were homeless. In fact, there are more than 30 million strays in the country. During his week-long trip to India, Schaller even bonded with one dog. The photographer fed him every day, and the stray doggie would follow him everywhere. Schaller was glad he had met her and it was rather difficult for him to part with the doggie.
Schaller hopes that his photo project will encourage people to adopt dogs from shelters as well as support local charities. Every stray and shelter animal need a real home and a loving family from the shelter.
