One of the rarest and most ancient species, records of which can be found in ancient antiquity manuscripts (I-IV century BC), is the Tibetan Mastiff. An adult male can weigh up to 180 lb and stand 30 in tall. All breeds of shepherd dogs and hounds are said to have descended from the Tibetan Mastiff.

Bred in Mali, a country with a very hot climate, the Azawakh has a slim figure and powerful muscles. These dogs need large spaces, as they should have regular exercise, and a warm, even hot, climate due to their exceptionally thin skin and a large number of blood vessels under it.

When looking at dogs of the Catalburun breed, there seems to be something wrong with them. This is all because of their "double" nose. Another name for the breed is the Turkish Pointer that refers to their excellent hunting skills. The breed hasn't been recognized by the International Canine Federation, that puts it on the brink of extinction due to its low popularity among breeders.
