During a walk, Chanel wouldn't go any further. But far from being rebellious, it was rather a misunderstanding with her dog sitter. In fact, the pooch did not understand her.

Stephanie Jimenez from the Philippines, traveled from Asia to Australia to visit her cousin. While there, she helped her cousin out with some house chores including walking the family dog, Chanel. Although the latter is rather docile, she had trouble obeying Stephanie, and for good reason. The woman's accent sounded nothing like that of her owner.

During her stay in Australia, Jimenez offered to walk Chanel, a female Maltipoo. But things turned out to be more complicated than expected.

Dogs are usually good at adapting to human speech. Chanel is no exception. Yet, while walking her, Stephanie had a hard time getting her attention. In a video posted on TikTok, Jimenez asks the Maltipoo to move on, but the dog does not react.

After several requests, Stephanie repeats the same order in the Australian accent, that is much more nasal. And instantly, Chanel continues the walk. This funny moment went viral, racking up 4.9 million views, 1 million likes, and hundreds of comments:

The language barrier

In the end, it was just a misunderstanding. Chanel is used to hearing orders with her owner's pronunciation, and Stephanie has to put on an Aussie accent. Stephanie has also shared other videos in which communication with Maltipoo is difficult. Even when trying to fake her cousin's accent , the Filipino still has trouble getting what she wants!
