This March, Cinnamon the goat and Felix the American bulldog were surrendered to Wake County's animal control in North Carolina. Their former owner could no longer take care of the animals, so they ended up at the shelter.
The staff was surprised by this duo because the goat and the dog refused to leave each other's side – the adorable pair sleep, eat, and play together. Cinnamon and Felix have a hard time without each other since when they were placed in separate kennels, the goat would bleat and look for her mate.
"Goats are social animals and so are dogs, so when they're put together, it makes sense they would find friendship. We realized that this pair needed to be kept together. Cinnamon loves to eat, but most of all she loves to cuddle with Felix," explained WCAC director Jennifer Federico.
This was the first time the center staff witnessed such an unusual friendship. Both animals needed homes, so the volunteers faced the difficult task of finding owners who would be willing to take both Cinnamon and Felix.
Soon the perfect owners were found. A family of farmers decided to adopt both pets. They have a herd of goats that means Cinnamon will make new friends. The owners also have dogs, so they should be able to handle the big and active Felix. Let's wish them luck!
