One day a dog appeared in a woman's home. He was wearing a good collar and looked well-groomed and well-fed. So the woman thought the dog wasn't obviously a stray.
He fearlessly entered the woman's house and lay down on the floor curled up. The dog slept for a couple of hours and then left as quickly as he had come. The next day the same thing happened again. This continued for a week, with the dog coming in, sleeping, and leaving.
The woman couldn't figure out what was going on. And then she decided to write a note to the owners of the dog, asking if they knew that their pet was visiting her home as a hotel. The woman attached it to the dog's collar and looked forward to the next day.
When she saw the dog return with a reply, she eagerly unwrapped the note and began reading it. The woman finally learnt the truth. The reason for the dog's visits was so amusing and unexpected that the woman couldn't stop laughing for a long time. The note read as follows:
"I'm sorry if he causes you any inconvenience. This dog just lives in a house with six kids, and two of them are under three years old. He comes to you to snatch some sleep. May I come with him tomorrow, too?"
