Houston the cat has always been affectionate with everyone despite his condition, so no wonder that the staff at Tabby's Place, a cat sanctuary in Ringoes, New Jersey, took a liking to the cat at once.

Houston had severe hydrocephalus, a brain condition with an excess cerebrospinal fluid. This put constant pressure on his brain and made his gait unsteady. In addition, he was unable to fully open his eyes because of swelling.

Tabby's Place consulted a veterinary neurologist, who prescribed a specific treatment for the cat. Houston's condition gradually improved, as did his mood. He has become an even more pleasant companion.
