A black pittie named Waffles is just obsessed with plush toys, which she had never seen before arriving to the shelter. The doggie was rescued from the streets a few months ago. Volunteers have taken care of the dog and given her all their love, but Waffle's big source of comfort has been her collection of stuffed toys.
"She loves toys and carries them everywhere. When Waffle first arrived at the shelter, there were a few toys waiting for her, but she started walking down the hallway to the other office collecting all the plush animals," says RACC Shelter Manager Kristy Peters.
The doggie likes to store her precious collection on the bed, where she keeps a close eye on each toy
Whenever she left her kennel for a walk, she came back with a new plush friend.
Waffle loved every soft toy she came across, but she definitely had her favorites.
"The absolute favorite was a red teddy bone," Christy says. "The runner-up was the frog, but his legs dangle, and sometimes she’d trip on them. The third in the lineup was the bird — she carried that one around a bunch."
Waffle wasn't interested in socializing with the other dogs at the shelter, but she was always happy to show them her toy collection. She brought toys to the volunteers, too, but objected when they tried to take her plush friends.

Recently, Waffle has found loving owners. Volunteers could not let the dog go to a new home with "empty paws," so they gave Waffles her favorite toys.
