Douglas the cat from Britain is very special – he doesn't like other cats, but he adores the dog he's grown up with.

His owner Lucy Mahon found him wandering the streets several years ago.

"I got off the bus and the cat jumped out to meet me. I took a picture of the little guy so I could find him later. My husband and I had been looking for him for three days and we happened to see him on the street when we went shopping. My husband Jeff pulled over to catch him. The cat was so thin and weak that as soon as I picked him up, he cuddled in my lap. The vet said that the guy had fleas, was underweight, and covered with wounds from fights with other animals," Mahon recalls.

Lucy and Jeff were concerned that Douglas wouldn't get along with their golden retriever, Phoebe. But it turned out quite the opposite: "Douglas has quickly become part of our family. He started copying Phoebe's behavior and they've become a real team. Douglas understands "sit", gives us his paw, walks around, brings us toys, jumps, and catches treats in the air. Phoebe has become his mom and friend, so now Douglas likes dogs a lot more than other cats," Lucy says.

Phoebe has recently passed away and her absence makes Douglas really sad. He's not friendly with the neighbors' cats, acts like a dog, and misses Phoebe.
