Sometimes it is our will to live that makes the impossible possible. Chloe the cat was paraplegic and she had nothing else waiting for her at a state shelter except for being put to sleep. So Hannah came home that day with three shelter kittens instead of two.
Spine injuries are not easy to treat, and it becomes much more difficult if the patient is the size of a palm. Hannah didn't know if the kitten had a chance at recovery, she just wanted to relieve Chloe's pain and give her care and love she deserved so much.
After a visit to the vet, it became clear that Chloe had a spinal cord injury.
But despite the unfavorable prognosis, Hannah doesn't want to give up and decided to give the kitten the best possible care, including various alternative therapies. Hannah consulted several doctors and they recommended laser therapy, physical therapy, NSAIDs (nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs), and prazosin.
Last week it was decided to try acupuncture and a device called Assisi Loop (it emits therapeutic electromagnetic pulses) to treat Chloe.
Chloe also regained some control of her bladder. All against the vets' predictions.
Now the kitten is not just dragging her paralyzed legs when crawling, but is trying to move them.
