A pit bull named Stormy lived for two years in a family with four kids and lots of animals. When the family welcomed their fifth child, the dog was surrendered to a shelter to be put to sleep... but just moments before the gruesome procedure, a miracle happened. So what's up with Stormy now? You certainly haven't seen a happier dog!
Stormy is the perfect family dog. He gets along well with kids, dogs, and cats
He is gentle, affectionate, and playful. He is two years old and has lived with only one family with four children, two dogs, and a cat since he was a little puppy, getting along well with everyone. But when a fifth child was born, his owners decided that there was no place for the active Stormy in their home.
The pit bull was surrendered to a Brooklyn shelter, where he was due to be put to sleep because the shelter had already been full. There was fear and sadness in this abandoned doggie's eyes. It was impossible to not be moved by the first photos of Stormy from the shelter.
Alana Garrini, a volunteer with Eleventh Hour Rescue, spotted the photos on the shelter's website and decided to take action.
The broken-hearted pit bull's life was at risk, and Alana hurried as fast as she could. "He was due to be put down at 5 o'clock, and it was 4:58 or 4:59 when we got the word that 'We'll let you take him, and he's officially yours and off of death row," the volunteer said.
Alana and her 16-year-old son started fostering the pooch. The whole way home Stormy smiled, wagged his tail, and licked his rescuers, not hiding his gratitude!
Garrini knew that the dog had lived all his life with a large family, but she did not expect how gentle and kind this pittie would turn out to be

"He was wrestling with my son, and my son’s hand went into the dog's mouth … and the dog left his mouth open and slowly backed his head away so he wouldn't even scratch him," Alana said. "That's when I knew that I was madly in love with this dog."
Stormy got surprisingly attached to his rescuers. When Alana's son wasn't feeling well and was lying in bed, the dog would stay in his room all day long and follow him when he got up. All he needed was to contact with people and be loved.
Alana still can't believe that Stormy's former family could abandon him so easily... But she hopes that soon a worthy family who will truly love such a treasure will be found for him!
