Stephanie, her husband, and their two children live in a small town. A year and a half ago the family moved from an old three-bedroom apartment in the city center to a new two-storey townhouse in the suburbs. In just a few months the family managed to turn a concrete box into a cozy housing by themselves. They’ve made a stunning kitchen, atmospheric bedrooms for children, and a harmonious interior decoration.
About the start of the renovation and the layout
“We bought a townhouse with bare walls. The 150 sq. m. of living space, three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a walk-in closet, a combined kitchen-living room, a hall, and a staircase had to be decorated within a short period of time, since we wanted to move to our new house as soon as possible,” Stephanie says.
Stephanie did the interior design herself. In general, the whole concept of colors, furniture, materials, and so on was chosen by Stephanie and her husband.
The kitchen
The kitchen set was ordered after searching literally all companies that made kitchens in the small city, where the couple lived. No one could offer engineered stone countertop size 220x115 cm, but eventually Stephanie found the right craftsmen.
About the room of Stephanie's 18-year-old son
“My son’s room is 15 sq. m. The walls are painted dark green and white. I'm very glad that I bought a terrific functional art object, a wooden map of the world. A special place is occupied by a shelving unit with a metal base and wooden shelves, it fit perfectly and became a real decoration of the room,” Stephanie shares.

Stephanie's 7-year-old daughter's room
Stephanie’s daughter has an irregularly shaped room (it has seven corners) of 18 sq. m. This room was the first thing in Stephanie’s mind to be ready. The room is painted in two colors. English wallpaper with a SANDERSON print add some elegance to the nursery. Some cute details are added, and a little girl's dream room is ready.
The spouses’ bedroom
The bedroom is almost 22 sq. m. and is decorated in subdued, calm colors. The walls are painted beige, and the wall behind the head of the bed is covered with a sophisticated wallpaper with a geometric ornament. Stephanie’s special love is the luxurious velvet curtains.
About the bathrooms
There are two bathrooms in the house. On the first floor the bathroom is small, just 6m². On the second floor, the bathroom is more than 12 sq. m.
Top tip
As Stephanie says, “If you did decide to make repairs without a designer, take your time, study carefully all the subtleties, determine exactly what you want, and do the renovation with love.”
