"I can't imagine where he might have been hiding. Yes, my belly was big, but not that big!" said Cherral Mitchell, 31, the mother of one of the largest newborns in the world.

On October 28, the woman gave birth to a boy who weighed almost 15 lb. Cherral gave birth by C-section at 38 weeks of pregnancy and couldn’t believe her eyes when she found out that the baby weighed 14lb 15oz. That's how much 5-month-old babies weigh. It took two staff members to pull the baby out of the womb.

The big guy was affectionately nicknamed a Pumpkin Baby, although his official name was Alpha.

Cherral's husband attended the birth. When his husband saw the baby's head, he was taken aback: "Oh my God! It's so big!"

"The nurses said he was the biggest baby," Cherral laughs. “They started immediately googling."

However, Alpha didn't beat the world record. The biggest baby in the Guinness Book of World Records was born in Italy in 1955. He weighed over 22 lb. In 2009 an Indonesian boy was born, weighing about 20 lb. At the same time, the height of the "giant" was just about 2 ft.

In Britain baby Alpha is considered the third largest newborn baby.

Cherral recalls that the news of her fourth pregnancy came as a big surprise to her. She and her husband were already raising three children, and a fourth child was not planned.

By the way, Cherral's previous children were born with normal weight. Doctors believe that Cherral's gestational diabetes is to blame for Alpha’s weight. The diagnosis was given quite late, and, as a result, the baby consumed a lot of sugar, which affected his weight.
