The staff at Barkers Pet Motel and Grooming in Albert, Canada, have seen many unusual situations, but the story of an Australian shepherd Maggie touched even the most experienced.

The pet motel often helps local shelters and takes in foster pets. When Maggie was left on the streets, Barkers agreed to provide her with a temporary shelter. A few days later, the pet motel took in two orphaned little puppies.

The first night, the frightened pups were whimpering pitifully, and Maggie, who had been separated from her entire litter a week before, had her heart broken. The shepherd somehow broke out of the kennel and ran to comfort the pups.

Barker's owner Sandi Aldred was lucky enough to witness this miraculous moment. Sandi remotely checked the video camera via an app on her phone and noticed movement in the room where the dogs were kept. Looking closely, she was able to see Maggie's escape with her own eyes. The dog couldn't get inside the cage with the babies. Then the Australian shepherd simply lay down and began licking the puppies through the bars of the cage.

After what she saw, Sandi immediately rushed to the room, where the dogs were kept. She was so touched by Maggie that she let her sleep with the puppies. "They were so happy," the woman recalls. As she says, Maggie sniffed them, and then the dogs huddled together and fell into a peaceful sleep. The puppies needed their mom so much, and she needed them. It was a very touching moment.

Soon Maggie returned to her former owners. Her owners couldn't take the puppies in, but thanks to the publication of the video on social media, a new home was quickly found for the little ones.
