The war in Syria has affected both people and animals, many of which have become stray. Mohammed Ali Jalil wanted to help stray cats, so he decided to build an animal shelter in Aleppo. He was even given the nickname "The Cat Man from Aleppo." Mohammed witnessed one very touching friendship between a dog and a kitten.

Not far from Mohammed's shelter lived Amira, a stray dog, that was often fed by Mohammed. Having learnt that the pooch was pregnant, the man built her a separate kennel to avoid conflicts with other cats in the shelter.
