When this little girl was found on the street a few months ago, she was so sick that it was not even clear what kind of animal she was. She was suffering from severe scabies and dehydration. But timely help allowed Princess not only to fully recover, but also to return to the wild.
Acording to Sharon Bertozzi, she was completely heartbroken when she saw Princess. The animal had been lying, huddled, behind a ceramic vase in Bertozzi's driveway for about four hours. Bertozzi contacted City of Folsom Animal Services to rescue her.
"At first we thought she was a sick old dog," the CFAS employee wrote on Facebook. "But when we looked closer, she turned out to be a young coyote with a severe case of scabies. She had to be dragged because she didn't want to leave the driveway."
Rescuers identified her as a coyote pup who was suffering from a particularly severe case of scabies. She was also dehydrated. The City of Folsom Animal Services turned Princess over to Gold Country Wildlife Rescue (GCWR) in Loomis, California, for further treatment.
GCWR did everything they could to help ease the itching and cure the scabies.
After her first bath, she began to itch less and eat with a greater appetite, that marked the beginning of a long recovery. Returning Princess to the wild was the rescuers' ultimate goal.
After the first phase of rehabilitation, Princess was turned over to Sierra Wildlife Rescue in Placerville, California.

There she was placed with two other coyote pups of her age.
She quickly found common ground with the other coyotes.
Princess was getting healthier every day.
It was time for her to be released into the wild.
At the end of last week, all three coyotes were released into the wild.
