This is a woodchuck named Coco. Having been seriously injured, she lay motionless for three days in the backyard of a private house. Because of her camouflage coloring, the owners were unaware of her presence for the whole time.

The owners noticed Coco only at the end of the third day, when birds began flying up to the motionless animal and pecking her at the head. At first they were sure that the woodchuck was dead and approached it only to dump the body. But when they came close to Coco, they were surprised to notice that the animal was still alive. So they called a neighbor, Molly Ryan, who worked at a local wildlife rescue center as a biologist.

"She snuggled up to me and tried to sleep all night so that at least one of her paws was touching me," Molly says.

Molly Ryan did her best to restore the woodchuck to health. After making sure it was a female, she named her Coco.
