K-9 dog Casper, took the bullet meant for his partner while detaining a dangerous criminal. The incident took place in South Florida. Officers pursued 46-year-old Philip O'Shea, who was wanted for robbery. Trying to flee from the officers, O'Shea exchanged gunfire with the police. The brave dog took the bullet that had been fired at his partner. The criminal was killed, and the four-legged officer became a hero.
The police officers involved in the detention reported that the four-legged hero literally jumped at the gunshot. Right after that the service dog was taken to a vet hospital where he was immediately operated on.
"Casper came into us last night after suffering a gunshot wound in the left hip. He was stable when he arrived. Once we determined that the bullet had not harmed any internal organs, we proceeded to remove the bullet surgically," said the vet who had performed the surgery.
Having recovered well from anesthesia, Casper will soon go home. Vets say he will make a full recovery.
