An abandoned Lhasa Apso was found in Leeds, UK. The animal was in such poor condition with its fur so matted that one leg had "grown" into its ear. Volunteers who rescued the dog said they had never seen such a neglected pet.

The 6-year-old Lhasa Apso was found in Yorkshire. It is still unknown how long the pet had been on the streets, but his condition was critical. It was difficult to make out not only the breed of the dog, but also the species the pet belonged to.

Lhasa Apso's long fur became a muddy mess, and one leg stuck near his ear. Volunteers had to sedate the pooch in order to remove the matted fur.

The dirty coat around the pet's eyes, where the thinnest skin was located, caused severe irritation.

The rescued doggie was named Soldier. When the pooch came to his senses, a new family took him in. The Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is searching for Soldier's previous owners to bring them to justice, but so far the search has yielded no results.
