Lana, an 8-month-old rescued dog from Brazil, had forgotten what it was like to live in fear on the streets, but clearly still remembered her life as a stray. When Lana saw a stray dog preparing to face the cold night outside her house's fence, she did her best to help her friend.

"I thought, 'How wonderful what she did for her friend,'" says Suelen Schaumloeffel, the dog's owner. "My best four-legged friend reminded me of something so important: generosity!"

"She's the nicest little dog I've ever met," the woman says. "Sometimes we forget the difference we can make in someone's life. And she reminded me of this."

After her dog's kind action, she left some water and food for the stray, believing that was what Lana wanted to do. Unfortunately, the stray dog still runs away from the woman every time it sees her. However, Schaumloeffel hopes that one day she will be able to help the dog find a permanent home.
