Unfortunately, sometimes we all have to face difficult decisions, even though it can be extremely painful. A 12-year-old boy from Mexico has made that kind of decision.
On February 13th, Xollin Animal Shelter employees found a puppy in a box on their doorstep.
There was a note and a stuffed toy in the box as well.
Here's what the note said:
"My name is Andres and I am 12 years old. My mom and I decided to leave him to you. All of this is behind my dad’s back, because he was thinking of selling him. But he is always beating and kicking the dog. Once he kicked him so hard that his little tail got injured. I hope you can help him and take care of him. Here is a plush toy so he won’t forget me."
When the shelter told the story on social media, people from all over the world expressed their willingness to help, donate money, and adopt the puppy.
The first thing the shelter workers did was to show the puppy to the vet.
It turned out that the tail of the poor thing was broken. But he had already been wormed and was feeling fine.
The shelter named the puppy Rene.
