It's not known if the young mom, golden-coated Labrador Lucy, had to blush and make excuses about whether the babies were hers. That's usually the prerogative of fathers. But in Lucy's case everything is quite the opposite. The mother is light, but all the babies are pitch black!
It looks as if the pups weren't Lucy's!
Lucy's owner, Catherine Smith, was amazed at such a big litter since Lucy is a young dog and it was her first labor, so she was expected to have five, seven puppies at most. So when the tenth puppy appeared, Smith was pretty worried. And when it all was over and the bunch of pitch black babies swarmed around their yellow mom, Lucy wondered, "How is it possible?"
However, no miracle has happened. Just daddy's genes were stronger than mommy's, and the daddy in this case was a neighbor's purebred Lab Bastion. It wasn't the first time the black dog has become the father of puppies of the same beautiful color. Lucy might be offended, but there's nothing she can do about it.
The story made the puppies famous and the babies have been quickly sold out. The puppies will go to their new families any day now!
