American actress, singer, and model Georgia Holt died on December 10 at the age of 96. This was reported on Twitter by her famous daughter Cher.
"Mom is gone," the celebrity wrote.
Back in early September, the 76-year-old singer wrote on her Twitter that Georgia had been hospitalized with pneumonia and suffered from recurring health problems.
"Mom is sick now and then. She just got out of the hospital. She had pneumonia," the star wrote, adding that "she's getting better."
The next day, Cher took back to social media to thank her fans for their prayers and assure them that bringing her mother home was the best thing for her.
Cher is also known to have paid tribute to her mother back in 2013 by releasing a documentary on Lifetime called "Dear Mom, Love Cher."
The film co-produced by Cher details Holt's childhood in Arkansas and her singing and acting career in Los Angeles as she struggled to support her daughter.
She was married and divorced six times. Holt was married twice to her first husband, John Sarkisian, with whom she welcomed Cherilyn Sarkisian, today known as Cher, in 1946. It was Georgia Holt who encouraged her daughter to go into show business.
