The Hollywood legend Dick Van Dyke turned 97 on December 13. The American actor, entertainer, and comedian celebrated his 97th birthday with his family and friends. It was a great day for the proud husband, father of four, and the grandpa of seven grandchildren. Dick was happy to spend this day with his loved ones.

Just before his birthday he and his wife Arlene Silver, who is 46 years younger than the famous actor, were spotted in LA on the way to a gym. Van Dyke owes his logevity to an active lifestyle, he is sober after struggling with alcoholism for years, he also gave up smoking years ago.

He met wife Arlene Silver, now 51, at the SAG awards where she worked as a makeup artist. Despite the huge age gap, Arlene is happy with her life saying that their relationship works because they share the same beliefs and attitude to life. They both "go with the flow" when they need to.

"If I’d known I was going to live this long I’d have taken better care of myself!" the actor joked in his recent interview.
