Hayek said that she fosters modesty in her nine-year-old daughter Valentina, despite the fact that she can give her anything she wants.

"My child is modest. I don't know how I've done it. I think what's great is that she has a wide range of things. So, at Christmas, I like when she opens a million gifts, but some of them are very small and meaningful, some of them are very silly and playful, and then she gets one or two really nice gifts," Hayek said.

Hayek's husband Francois-Henri Pinault is the CEO of the luxury fashion group Kering, which owns such brands as Gucci, Saint Laurent, and Balenciaga.

Salma also noted that despite Hollywood's obsession with youth, she doesn't compete with every new ingénue.

"I'm too busy to compare or compete with all these women. I have my family and 30 pets, so I'm just doing my business. I don't look at other women in the industry. I just have to keep up with myself, and that's a big challenge, and that's all I focus on."
