Carine Gombaud from France was walking about New York City and when she saw a homeless man. The kind woman offered him a slice of pizza, not recognizing him as the famous actor Richard Gere.
As the woman later related, she and her family saw a man looking like a tramp. He was rummaging through a garbage can. She took pity on him and went over to give him a slice of pizza they had after visiting a restaurant.
The woman handed him a bag, and the man asked what was in it. Carine tried to speak English, but her poor knowledge of the language prevented her from doing so, and so half of the sentence came out in French, "Sorry, but the pizza is already cold." The homeless man replied, "Thank you very much. God bless you."
Only a couple of days later the woman realized that it was Richard Gere. The hotel where they stayed, showed her a newspaper in which there was a photo of her meeting with the actor.
It's turned out that when Gombaud and her family were walking about the city, they passed by the set of the movie Time Out of Mind starring Gere. The actor and the entire team were extremely touched by such an act of kindness. It was probably the brightest moment of the whole filming process.
