Kathryn, an abandoned cat, was found with her newborn kittens in a rented apartment in Langebaan, South Africa. Unfortunately, when the kitty was discovered, it was too late to save her offspring. She was taken in by Izelle Marallich, CEO of Langebaan Animal Care.
Kathryn settled nicely in her temporary home, giving love to all members of her foster family. Despite being very grateful for her rescue, she was longing for something. Sometimes her foster mom would hear the kitty meow pitifully, looking for her babies. These desperate meows could melt even the heart made of stone.
Kathryn's life changed when the family took in four orphaned puppies. The kitty immediately figured out what to do. The moment she saw them, the kitty started to lick the babies. When they were crying, she ran to them and calmed them down.
In a couple of days, the mama cat and her canine babies had become inseparable. Puppies doted on their fluffy mommy, constantly playing with her and demanding her affection. And Kathryn was happy to shower the pups with love.
Then the kitty started nursing the pups. "She stopped being restless and crying and just slept day and night with them," Marallich recalls. "The puppies were happy and she was happy too."
Kathryn became a real mom to the puppies. She groomed them, napped and played with them and of course, nursed them when they asked for. Every time at least one of the pups crawled away somewhere, Kathryn would call out for it.
"I have never seen such a dedicated and loving mommy," Marallich notes, adding "Kathryn wouldn't leave their side day and night!"
As the puppies grew older, permanent homes were found for them. However, Kathryn already had new concerns. Her foster parents took in two orphaned kittens rescued from the field. Marallich is very lucky to have such a responsible and caring helper!

"Many people got interested in taking Kathryn in," the woman says. "But for now, she will stay with us and continue being a loving and caring mom to orphaned animals."
This caring kitty proved once again that mother's love knows no bounds!
