Helen the bison cannot see, so it comes as no surprise that she was distrustful of all the animals at the shelter. However, one day a Jersey calf named Oliver came.
After meeting him, Helen started to change. She found a friend, not only someone to have fun with, but someone she could trust.
Although Helen had spent years in complete solitude and wouldn't let anyone near her, she started treating Oliver as if he were her baby. The love between them was growing stronger with each day.
Oliver managed to melt the heart of the lonely bison. And after a while, when the calf grew older, his coat color started matching the color of his foster mom's fur. This amazing coincidence strengthened their bond.
According to Gwen Jacubisin, the shelter manager, not only has Helen become different, very happy, but Oliver has also changed. He's turned into a baby buffalo, following his foster mom everywhere.
Betsy, Oliver's biological mother, does not take care of her son, that's why Helen adopted him.

As a result, all the animals are happy
"I catch them grooming each other which is amazing because I don’t think Helen has ever had that opportunity to express that motherly instinct before," Gwen said. "Helen's maternal instinct finally kicked in and made her happy."
This amazing friendship with Oliver has allowed Helen to overcome her fears, and she now confidently interacts with other animals at the shelter as well.
Lighthouse Farm Sanctuary is primarily home to farm animals that have been abused. They now have 250 animals in their care, including cows, pigs, horses, chickens, sheep, and goats.
All the animals are comfortable in the sanctuary, they are free to move around its vast grounds, they eat and sleep to their heart's content and they are also regularly examined by veterinarians.
Aren't they a cute couple?
