Patty Hernandez, 40, and Carlos, 39, live in North Carolina, USA. Their family is well known in the neighborhood, because not every mother drives her kids to school in a 20-passenger bus.
Patty welcomed a son just over a year ago and has recently found out she is expecting a baby boy again.
Hernandez has been pregnant for a total of 14 years, and she loves it. She feels blessed, excited, and happy. Patty believes that if God doesn't want them to have children, she won't get pregnant again. And as long as the opposite happens, it means that it's God's will.
Spending $1,000 a week on food
There are six boys and ten girls from the age of 14 to one year in the family. All the 16 children have names beginning with the letter "C" after Carlos, who provides for the family with the help of his own cleaning company.
The family spends about $1,000 a week on food, mostly on school lunches. But the large family doesn't have any financial problems. Carlos's business is going well, so Patty is calm about it. Despite such a number of children, the family does not get any social benefits. In addition, the mom of sixteen often faces disapproval, but Patty doesn't care.
"We’ve got a huge five-bedroom home, the older ones have bunk beds which include five regular bunk beds and a triple one and the little ones are five in a nursery plus there are cribs for the babies," Patty says.

That many children create a lot of housework. Patty does laundry at least four times a week and then spends five hours putting things away. Her kids have their own routines, which include household chores. The oldest bakes pancakes and the younger ones put away toys.
The couple are still surprised that they are raising 16 kids, but they have grand plans. They dream of having 20 kids to have an even number of girls and boys.
Would you be able to raise so many kids?
